Canon EOS Rebel T6i / 750D

The Rebel T6i, also sold as the 750D, is an APS-C DSLR released in 2015. An optical viewfinder handles eye-level framing, and the flip-out touchscreen covers angles the viewfinder cannot reach.

At 555 g it is a light body to carry around, and built-in Wi-Fi provides a wireless connection for cable-free use. The Canon EF-S lens mount defines which lenses fit.

For video, recording tops out at Full HD, the maximum frame rate is 30fps, and there is no built-in intervalometer for timelapses.

A single SD slot handles storage, and it accepts SDHC and SDXC cards with UHS-I support. With no second slot, in-camera backup is not an option, so a spare card covers extra capacity.

The LP-E17 battery is rated at 440 shots. That rating is a guide rather than a promise for every situation, so a long day of heavy shooting may call for a second battery.

There is no USB charging, so you cannot top the battery up from a laptop or power bank between shoots. A charged spare carried in the bag is the simplest insurance.
