Read our notes on general
The TTArtisan AF 40mm f/2 is a very compact and lightweight lens that offers strong build and optical qualities, including low distortion and good sharpness across most of the frame. It features a dedicated aperture ring with one-third-stop increments, which is an uncommon trait for modern autofocus lenses at this price. The lens is built entirely from metal, giving it a sturdy feel that's unusual at this price point. However, vignetting is very strong at f/2 and remains noticeable when stopped down, and close-up performance is poor wide open with contrast nearly disappearing until you reach f/4.
