What We Like
+Exceptionally compact and lightweight design at only 300g with constant f/2.8 aperture
+Fast and near-silent autofocus with excellent subject tracking thanks to optimized stepping motor
+Versatile 28.8-80mm equivalent focal range ideal for general photography and travel
+Sharp image quality across the frame with advanced optical design and in-camera aberration correction
+Weather-sealed mount with dust and splash-resistant construction for outdoor use
+Close focusing capability (12.1cm minimum at wide end) enables macro-style shots
Worth Knowing
Significant barrel distortion at wide end, though corrected in-camera for JPEG but visible in RAW
No built-in image stabilization (though body stabilization compensates on compatible cameras)
Bokeh quality described as merely acceptable and somewhat raspy at wide open aperture
Requires in-camera correction for optimal optical performance when shooting RAW

Read our notes on general
Sigma's 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | C is the company's debut lens for the Canon RF mount. With its constant f/2.8 aperture, fast autofocus and weather sealing, this 29-80mm equivalent zoom virtually gives APS-C shooters a standard trinity lens – one that's about the size of a small tin of soda. Autofocus was fantastic, image quality looks great, and the lens remains very impressive despite its small size. It's a great little general purpose/travel lens, as it affords enough flexibility in the focal length to shoot many scenes, and the constant maximum aperture of F2.8 gives you more flexibility in different lighting situations.
