What We Like
+Ultra-bright f/1.4 aperture with compact design ideal for low-light and shallow depth-of-field photography
+Excellent sharpness and minimal aberrations at f/2.8-f/8, with impressive corner recovery
+Smooth, quiet stepping motor autofocus optimized for Canon RF hybrid AF and video work
+Lightweight and extremely portable at 415g, perfect for handheld vlogging and travel
+Dust and splash resistant mount for reliable performance in varied shooting conditions

Worth Knowing
Notable softness at f/1.4 wide open, particularly in corners; requires stopping down to f/2-f/2.8 for optimal sharpness
Significant vignetting at f/1.4 without digital correction, though minimized by f/2.8 onward
No optical image stabilization; relies on camera IBIS or bright aperture for handheld low-light shooting
No water or oil repellent coating on front element despite dust/splash resistant mount sealing

Read our notes on general
The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series designed for Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras, offering 415g weight for Canon RF mount and a 25.6mm equivalent focal length on APS-C format. At f/2 the lens shows excellent center quality and very good borders, with corners fully recovered by f/2.8 and peak performance at f/4, though there is slight fuzziness at f/1.4 that becomes barely noticeable by f/2.8. The stepping motor delivers excellent autofocus with quiet performance optimized for Canon RF mount, making it well-suited for both stills and video on APS-C mirrorless systems.
