What We Like
+Exceptionally sharp across full-frame at f/1.4 with elite optical performance
+Hybrid design with VCM rear focus motor delivers silent, fast autofocus ideal for both stills and video
+Manual iris ring enables smooth, stepless aperture control during video capture
+Compact, lightweight form factor (515g) with L-series durability and weather sealing
+Minimal focus breathing (1.0% with correction) and beautiful bokeh rendering from 11-blade diaphragm
+Versatile 24mm focal length ideal for landscapes, astrophotography, and establishing shots
Worth Knowing
No optical image stabilization; relies on camera IBIS which varies by model
Requires lens correction profiles to achieve best optical performance, particularly for distortion control
Reliance on software correction adds post-processing dependency vs. optical-only solutions
VCM requires power to hold focus position, causing slight internal noise when lens is off camera

Read our notes on general
A powerful wide-angle lens that is lightweight and packed with still and video shooting features, including the durability and quality you expect with a Canon "L-Series" lens. The Canon RF 24mm F1.4 L VCM Lens is remarkably sharp across the entire full-frame image circle at f/1.4, placing this lens in an elite class. This is one of the company's new hybrid lenses: elite L-series optics aimed at both stills photographers and filmmakers in equal measure, with the inclusion of fast and quiet autofocus motors and an Iris (aperture) ring to adjust the aperture smoothly on the fly.
